Post Sivaji Trauma

Symptoms:
  • Feeling of euphoria (of having seen their Thalaivar after 2 years) and emptiness (bcos of the 2 year wait ahead that stares at them) at the same time
  • Ending every other sentence with the word 'Cool'
  • On being asked what their name is, the answer invariably ends with Pera kaetta udane chummaa adhiridhulla
  • Repeated & vain attempts to horizontally toss a coin.
  • Speak in husky tones bcos voice is so weak and coarse after hours together of shouting of Thalaivaaaaaaaaaa.
  • Trying to pop a bubble gum into the mouth, by hitting it against any solid surface, preferably the left hand or others' forehead
  • On being asked on why they have come alone (does not matter who is asking that question and where that question is being posed), they answer Kannaa...panninga thaan koottamaa varum. Singam...single-aa thaan varum
  • Severe neck pain as a result of trying to alternate their coolers/ goggles that is between their noses to behind their necks and vice-versa.
Victims:
  • Fans of an actor, affectionately called Thalaivar, who simply can't get enough of him
  • NRI fans in particular are the most affected as Sivaji does not run for more than 1-2 weeks in most centers.
Recommended Medication:
  • Sivaji DVD
  • Another viewing of THE BOSS

really? to a die hard rajni fan that i am, the movie almost killed my truer spirit of being... it defnly is an awesome thalaivar flick gone sour purely because the director had no footing... and sujatha was drunk

Thats a good one, Balaji :) Don't know how I missed that one. The only other thing I thought about adding but finally left out was folks trying to become ambidextrous and sign with both their hands :)

Don't know if there can be a better-made Thalaivar movie than this one, Mark. Sure, Sivaji is not the perfect movie we expected and but for me, I have not seen Thalaivar act & emote with such involvement since Baashaa happened. There are just too many stuff to admire in the movie that I will run out of space if I start listing them here. Watch it again and I am sure you will like it more.

Good that you got your medication over the weekend. But the problem with these medications is that you need to keep taking them :)

Neenga sonnadhu romba correct. Like I have said before, the more you see it, the more you love the movie. There is just too much to love in the movie that every time you watch it, you will notice something new that will capture your attention.

And finally, very true how some damn guy had not released the Mottai Boss pictures. It would have been a even bigger thrill for all of us.

Will remember the DOB of MGR from now on. The 1 rupee coin year is 1985. I did not notice it but passing on the answer from the Orkut thread. The next time I see the movie, I am planning to collect some statistics - like how many costumes does Thalaivar come in, how many times he utters the word Cool, etc.

Now i ve heard them from more than many people and even experienced myself..the second time u watch it u ll love the movie like hell...happened to catch up witht halaivar last weekend in bangalore (a typical thiruvanmiyur thiygaraja or chromepet rakesh kinda theatre)..the experience was exhilarating...hoping to catch up thalivar somewhere in chennai this weekend...

That is exactly my experience too, Naren. The second time (and every subsequent time) you watch it and you get addicted to the movie, even more. I am not sure if the movie would have been as addictive as it is now, even if Shankar had come up with THE perfect movie. Though I will watch the Telugu version this weekend, I still want to watch the Tamil version somewhere. I am planning for an India trip this Aug-Sept. I might have to wait until then :(

I was talking to a Maharashtrian friend last evening and she mentioned that she loved the film and that unlike other Hindi masala films, this one has a story. And this girl does not understand a word of tamizh.. also pal cribbed that she tried to do the 'chewing gum' stunt and failed miserably! She was oreda pugazh for thalaivar's stunts and how good he looked.. Added that the last film of rajni she saw was HUM (Hindi) or something like that. I went on to ask her how she understood the film despite not knowing tamizh but she said that she kinda deciphered what they said thanks to the gestures, english words etc.

That is the power of SIVAJI: THE BOSS and THALAIVAR. You dont need to understand a word of tamizh but still the film makes you enjoy every bit of it, for 3 hours and 6 minutes!!! Mind blowing I say!

THALAIVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH :)

Yes Blogeswari,it is amazing to see how non-Tamils have lapped up this film, unlike previous Thalaivar movies and it is surprises like these that will make Sivaji the highest earning movie in the history of Tamil cinema and will probably take another Thalaivar movie to break this record.

Ever since my friends here at work knew about my road trip from Seattle to SFO to watch Chandramukhi, they have been asking about Thlaivar's next movie. But they could not make it for some other reasons. When I told them that I have seen the movie 5 times already & plan to watch it again, they looked like I was some crazy person.

Anyway, nee anga irundhu kathinadhu inga varaikkum kaekkudhu :)
